Les Gets is a village on a sunny pass next to Morzine, and it has kept the feel of one: wooden chalets, a main street where people live and shop, and a museum of mechanical music in the old presbytery. It holds the Famille Plus label for family resorts, and most of what a young family needs — ski school, nursery slopes, shops — is close together.

The skiing is shared with Morzine and linked into the Portes du Soleil. Much of the home skiing is gentle and suits beginners and cautious intermediates, with the rest of the circuit there for stronger skiers. The trade-off at Christmas is altitude: Les Gets sits a little higher than Morzine but still low for the Alps, so early-season cover depends on the weather, and the snowmaking on the home runs does much of the work in a thin December.
