Les Deux Alpes is a purpose-built resort strung along a long main street, busy and lively, with plenty of bars and a young crowd. The architecture is functional rather than pretty, but most places are close to the lifts and the nightlife is busy, with plenty of bars.

The ski area is unusual: the gentlest runs are at the top, on the glacier, while the runs back down to the village are steeper and busier, so beginners often take the lifts down. The Les 2 Alpes area suits intermediates well, and experts can reach the celebrated off-piste of La Grave. Families with small children may find it hard work.
