Klosters is the quiet end of Davos Klosters: a low-key village of dark-timbered chalets strung along the Prättigau valley, split between Klosters Platz, with the station and the Gotschna cable car, and the smaller Klosters Dorf, home of the Madrisa lift. It has none of Davos's town bustle or conference hotels, and its reputation rests on discretion. The British have skied here for generations, the royal family among them. It is expensive, well kept and more chalet than nightlife.
The skiing is the big draw. The Gotschna cable car climbs straight into the Parsenn, the large area shared with Davos, which suits confident intermediates best with long open reds and the classic runs down towards Serneus and Küblis, while the steep Gotschna slopes and the off-piste give advanced skiers plenty to do. Madrisa, across the valley, is the gentler family mountain with children's areas and ski school slopes. The trade-off at Christmas is the village height. Klosters sits low, so the runs home and the long descents to the valley depend on a good early winter, and in a mild December you ride the cable car down while the upper Parsenn stays reliable.

Reasonable rather than extensive. There are winter walks, cross-country trails along the valley and a long toboggan run from Madrisa to Saas, and Davos with its larger range of shops, pools and museums is a short train ride away.
