Verbier sits on a south-facing shelf above the Val de Bagnes and is one of the great freeride resorts of the world — the Bec des Rosses above it hosts the Freeride World Tour final. The 4 Vallées lift pass covers a very large area, though the links are long and can be slow.

It is a resort for confident skiers. The pisted terrain is more limited than the size of the area suggests and the beginner provision is modest, but for a group that skis well and wants a lively evening, Verbier has few equals in Switzerland. The village itself is attractive, spread out and expensive.
