San Cassiano is a quiet, exclusive Alta Badia village: a traffic-reduced Ladin village in a side valley below the Lagazuoi and Conturines, with an old parish church and a small museum built around a cave bear found nearby. The Rosa Alpina reopened as Aman Rosa Alpina in 2025; Norbert Niederkofler's St. Hubertus, which made the village's name for food, did not reopen with it.

The Piz Sorega lift climbs from the village to the Pralongià plateau at the heart of Alta Badia's pistes, with the Sellaronda within reach. The skiing is gentle to moderate and the huts are exceptionally well fed. It suits couples and families who want calm rather than nightlife.
