Modest. Cervinia is a practical resort and Christmas is pleasant rather than magical. What it does offer is the near-certainty of skiing on Christmas Day, which for many groups is the point.
Christmas in Courmayeur
On Christmas Eve afternoon children gather in the Jardin de l'Ange to meet Rhémy de Noël, Courmayeur's own Father Christmas, and walk him to the Alpine Guides' house to light his lantern. The Monte Bianco ski school's torchlit descent comes down to Dolonne on 30 December, and a large tree lights the centre from early December.
