Chalet Kandahar

Chalet Kandahar is a self-catered chalet in Chamonix, sleeping 7 in 3 bedrooms. It is ski-to-door, so skis go on outside and the day ends without a walk in boots, which helps with a group at Christmas. It has a swimming pool. Small things, but they are what a group remembers. Beds: 3 doubles and 1 sofa bed, with 2 bathrooms.

Chamonix scores 49 out of 100 on our Christmas Snow Score, with the village at 1035m. That means it is normally open at Christmas, with the lower runs depending more on the year.

Sleeping 7 is the classic family or small-group size. It is self-catered, so you cook — including on the 25th. That suits groups who want to eat on their own schedule.

Resort supermarkets keep short and unpredictable hours over Christmas and many close entirely on the 25th. Order ahead or shop on arrival. Pets are not allowed. Check the bed layout and what is included (linen, towels, final cleaning) on Booking.com before you book — Christmas week is often sold as a fixed seven nights.

Chalet Kandahar is in Les Houches, in the Chamonix area. The nearest lift listed is Les Chavants Ski Lift, about 140m away. The usual arrival airports for Chamonix are Geneva (GVA), Lyon (LYS). We do not publish transfer times, because they swing widely with traffic and road conditions on a Saturday in Christmas week.

Christmas week 2026 runs 19 Dec – 26 Dec 2026 — the Saturday-to-Saturday changeover most Alpine chalets work to, with Christmas Day falling mid-week.
