Chalet Base Camp

Chalet Base Camp is a self-catered chalet in Chamonix, sleeping 14 in 6 bedrooms. The nearest lift, Bellevue Ski Lift, is about 90m away — close enough to walk in boots. It has a hot tub, a sauna and a fireplace. In the last week of December the afternoons are short and everybody comes in cold, which is when a hot tub stops being a luxury and starts being the best thing in the resort. Beds: 4 large doubles, 4 bunks and 2 singles, with 6 bathrooms.

At 14 guests this is a whole-group chalet — two or three families, or the kind of Christmas where everybody comes. It is self-catered, so you cook — including on the 25th. That suits groups who want to eat on their own schedule.

Resort supermarkets keep short and unpredictable hours over Christmas and many close entirely on the 25th. Order ahead or shop on arrival. A chalet this size usually only goes as a whole, so it is a better fit for a group that has already formed. Pets are not allowed. We do not publish transfer times, because they swing widely with traffic and road conditions on a Saturday in Christmas week.

Christmas week 2026 runs 19 Dec – 26 Dec 2026 — the Saturday-to-Saturday changeover most Alpine chalets work to, with Christmas Day falling mid-week.
