The resort puts on a torchlit descent and a fireworks display, the bars are busy from mid-afternoon, and the whole place has the atmosphere of a very high-altitude holiday camp in a good sense. If you want a market square and a brass band, look at Austria. If snow on the 25th is the priority, its altitude is the reason to choose it.
