The tourist office and ski schools run a torchlight descent from the Grand Plan chairlift on Thursday evenings (in the 2026 season, 17 and 24 December, meeting at 16:50), and a free New Year's Eve event is listed for 31 December 2026. The tourist office also runs an igloo-building session on Friday afternoons from 25 December 2026 and a weekly guided walk from 17 December. Beyond that the festive feel comes from snow on the chalet roofs and the quiet hamlets rather than a Christmas market.

Christmas in Tignes

Modest. Tignes is open about being a ski resort rather than a Christmas destination — there is a torchlit descent and the bars do their bit, but the architecture is concrete and the atmosphere is about the mountain. Groups who intend to ski six days out of seven rarely mind.
