Christmas in Courchevel
Glossy. Courchevel at Christmas is fur coats, window displays and a lot of money being spent well. The Christmas Eve descent and fireworks are among the best staged in the Alps. It is not cosy, but for a group that wants the week to feel like an event, nothing in France does it better.
Christmas in Méribel
Warm and family-shaped. The chalet tradition here is strong and very British, the village puts on a Christmas market and a torchlit descent, and there are enough good restaurants to eat out well without a reservation battle. It is the Three Valleys resort where Christmas Day itself feels like an occasion rather than an interruption to the skiing.
