Corvara holds Alta Badia's main Christmas market, the Marcé da Nadé, in the town hall square from early December to Epiphany, with wooden huts, local choirs and a life-size wooden nativity by Leo Moroder that grows each year. On New Year's Day evening a torchlit descent ends with the Sassongher lit up.

Christmas in Val Gardena
Excellent and distinctive. The Ladin villages have a Christmas tradition that is neither Italian nor Austrian but something of its own, with markets, carved nativity scenes and a genuine sense of place. Ortisei in particular is a delight in late December.
